MURDER CASE: Matthew Powe

The first issue is that Mr Matthew Powe applied for a bail application at The Central Criminal Court on Monday 30th September 2013 (as on intentional purpose – on the Vitalis’s funeral day…)  This resulted in Mr Matthew POWE being released on conditional bail by the Judge.  The Judge imposed the following conditions:
– £60,000 security (this sum has been paid in full before release)
– Live and sleep at an address in SWANSEA.
– Report every Mon, Wed and Fri at a  Police Station in Swansea between 12 and 2 pm.
– Not to contact any prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly
– Not to access any social media site.
2nd: He denied murdering Vitalis Katakinas at the Old Bailey court yesterday (on 21st October 2013). He was bailed until a trial on 5th May 2014. The case remains the same: MURDER.
Everyone was equally surprised by the bail application that has been granted… But we have lots of time to build the best case to achieve the best result for Vitalis.

Witness appeal

I believe you are aware of Matthew Powe’s bail application that has been granted on 30th September 2013.

We all need to work together so that we can achieve the best result for Vitalis.

Were you a witness?

You have now seen the witness appeal here.

Do you feel that you can draw further witnesses?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Lina

Furthermore, we don’t need mountains of flowers or wreaths which they find themselves in a dusthole after a few days. Who brings the dead flower? Please bring at least some respect and moral support. Flowers are only important to us – living people. For Vitalis – he needs our prayers. He needs one hundred of times more of prayers than flowers.

Dear friends, give Vitalis to God, give your prayers to awaken and revive the hope in the faith of the resurrection of the deceased and finally, in life everlasting.

Remembrance of Late Vitalis Katakinas by JohnBoy

He has died peacefully in the hospital at London on the 6th of July 2013 and hence he was a Deaf Lithuanian, well-known at all Deaf communities, a talented soliloquy, a people person and a ‘Heart of Gold’ personality.
His whole passion was roaming around with his motorbike, his true love to Lina Kankeviciute and his whole family were at the safe hands of his.

Since I have learnt that he is no longer with us and I have found it so hardest to believe – Of course it is so devastated for all of us so it got me looking back about how we have met and what we had been up at our various ways.

As I have became a Deafblind human being at Northern Ireland where there was NO Deafblind issues for instance awareness except I am only one who have been attempted to develop a topic of ‘Northern Ireland Deafblind awareness’ at 2004 – In the same year, Vitalis came along and spotted me using a Deafblind communication with a local signer – He came to me keenly, ‘Wow! I never see Deafblind communication before – Teach me how!’ At the moment I just knew that he was just a warm-hearted creature!

As soon as we had became in a true friendship contains man to man conversation, good companyship included with his help; a relay interpreter, a Deafblind translator, a travelling guide, an adventure guide and a communicate guide – You see, these items that he had done so much for me and how can I thank him enough? What would I give anything back for him? Yet, he once said to me, ‘Don’t worry! I don’t want anything but you still my best friend! Don’t feel bad! Please ask me anything – you want my help? I am very happy I can drive up your house and help you – I know you Deafblind hard but I be there help you for friend – You smile then I smile!’

It is not that I had relied on him so much but what he had done the wonderful helps for me – Although I kept telling myself that I should give anything back for him but how?

However in my highlight that I eventually gave something back for him:-

In the early Christmas 2010, there was a Deafblind community in London that by lovely Stella Mqadi had organised a special occasion of ‘Ushers’ Christmas meal’.
It was Vitalis and his fiance Lina’s first visit at the Deafblind community!

I had introduced Vitalis to the Ushers – I had watched how multi-confident he was doing with them and they were very bewildered about his knowledge of Deafblind awareness! At end, in my heartful praise for him, ‘Vitalis, I am very proud and impressed of you for what you did brilliant today – Look what the Deafblind poeple and Ushers gave heaps of compliments about you! Without any doubts, I just know that you are my most perfect guide – I am sure that any other Deafblind ones or Ushers eagerly want to hire you to work for them! And between you and me, I am very glad and lucky to have you as my best guide! Oh – Of course my best friend too!’

His smile went wide as ear to ear and had celebrated for his triumph!

About nearly two years ago, Vitalis and Lina have moved in London and Vitalis was working at the centre of Signhealth where the poeple with learning difficulties, health problem – A few of them are Deafblind Vitalis once told me that according to his manager that these Deafblind ones went in a big improvement by his help!

Vitalis Katakinas, you’ll be very sorely missed because I justly know that things won’t ever be the same without you and there’ll never be another one like you such as for my Deafblindness, you are the God’s Gift and my true friendship, you STILL are the bestest friend to me!

From my family members, local friends and I, through our hearts, we would never forget about you forever and we all truly love you.

Rest in peace, Vitalis.

Signs of a Diva performance was dedicated to Vitalis

Bounce Festival: there was Signs of a Diva performance in Graeae in Belfast. Jenny Sealey, Director of Graeae announced that this performance was dedicated to Vitalis’s memory.

Jenny spoke about Vitalis. She didn’t labour the point because there’s still a high level of grief there and they all could have ended up howling, including Chris Ledger.

Bounce! festival all done for this year now. It went amazingly well. So glad Jenny could speak about Vitalis.

Thank you, Chris Ledger, thank you, Jenny Sealey, thanks to those who contributed to this tribute and thank you, Caroline Parker!

Culture Night Belfast

Message to me from Babs:

On 20th September Belfast Culture night takes place. Colette from BDA, Paula and others are preparing for another Deaf World day celebration on same night. They have booked the Cafe beside ADF Head Quarters. Tears filled my eyes as I remember the first Deaf Wold Days in Belfast. The second taking place on culture night. This is now a yearly celebration something that you and Vitalis brought to the Deaf community of N Ireland. Deaf World Day was unheard of until then.

I’m hoping someone videoed the beautiful dedication of Caroline Parker performance in memory of Vitalis. A friend of yours from Graeae (whose name I forget) announced the performance dedicated to Vitalis in your and his son’s honour. The first song was one that causes me to think of you both each time I hear it. “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”. Caroline performed it so beautifully. It was very very moving.

Folk here, including me, still find it hard to take in what happened to Vitalis. You and your families are never out of our thoughts.

Sending you a big hug.

A source of pride

Patsy Gorman’s tattoo is in memory of her best friend Vitalis Katakinas, who passed away on 6th July 2013.

I might think, if she can find the strength to pick herself up and carry on, I can do it as well. The tattoo on her shoulder blade has special significance. It is like he is following her and watching over her all the time. It is like a reminder of who always had her back.

It really was unexpected. Having said that, Vitalis is still alive – his spirit, soul and love lives on in out souls, our minds and hearts. We should learn how to draw strength from the pain that comes from unexpected challenges.

I wish for the memory of Vitalis Katakinas to remain alive and strong. I am so proud of Patsy Gorman who loves Vitalis as much as I do.

Thank you for being my friend, Patsy.

You can see her tattoo right here:
